Andrelton Simmons was a member of the 2009 Yorkton Cardinals. His bat was very good, but his defensive ability at shortstop was at a level never seen before or since he graced Jubilee Park and all other WMBL stadiums. He was and still is truly one of a kind.
Simmons made his MLB debut in 2012 with Atlanta, and has not looked back. He went on to win two gold gloves with the Braves in 2013 and 2014, while also winning the platinum glove in 2013 as the National League’s top defensive player.
In 2017 Simmons won his third career gold glove as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. He also achieved career highs in several offensive categories including hits (164), runs (77), doubles (38), stolen bases (19), on base percentage (.331) and slugging percentage (.421). He also hit a very respectable .278.
Congratulations to Andrelton on another fine season in the show, with continued success in 2018 and beyond!
