The Cardsinals and Bombers finally met up on July 5 for a double header at Jubilee Park. Both were close contests as Brooks won game one 5-1, while the Cards returned the favour with a 3-2 win.
In the loss the Cards managed only three hits led by Griffey Halle’s rbi double. Colin Kellington and Jared McDonald each had a single. Wryland McKnight pitched very well allowing just three runs (one earned) in six innings to take the hard luck loss. He scattered seven hits and had five strikeouts to keep the Cards in the game.
In game two the Cardinals received another magical pitching performance as Parker Hubbard tossed five innings while allowing just four hits and six strikeouts to get the win. Austin Skelhorn pitched the final two innings allowing just one run to record the save. The pitching really stepped up in a big way for the Cards.
Offensively the Cards managed six hits but two were via the long ball as Riley Jepson tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd and Griffey Halle launched one over left center to give the Cards a 3-1 lead.
