It was guaranteed win night. Either the Cards were going to win a game, or the fans would get free admission to the next Cardinals home game. The Cards gave it a valiant effort against the league leading Medicine Hat Mavericks but ultimately fell 7-4.
Owen Steele was given the ball for his fourth start of the season and once again continued his stellar season, allowing three earned runs over six innings striking out seven to take the loss. Brian Chen pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game on a positive note.
Griffey Halle and Ryne Niemi led the way with the sticks. Halle had three hits including a triple and two rbi. Niemi had two singles and an rbi. Jared McDonald, Clyde Yeh and Logan Zozaya also had one hit each.
The Cards led 1-0 after three until the Mavs put up four in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. But the Cards showed some character by responding with three of their own in the bottom half to tie the game. Unfortunately the Mavs powerful attack generated one in the sixth and two in the seventh to keep the lead for good.
Every fan in attendance receives free admission tomorrow night when Moose Jaw comes to Jubilee Park at 7:05 PM
