The Cards hosted the Regina Red Sox on Thursday June 21. After falling behind 3-0 after the top of the fifth, the red birds tied right back up in the bottom half, and took the lead in the seventh. Unfortunately the Sox put up four in the top of 8 to take the lead for good in a 7-4 Cardinals loss
Owen Steele once again was excellent on the hill going 6 1/3 innings allowing seven hits and three runs (zero earned) with seven strikeouts. Brian Chen, Parker Hubbard, and Andrew Cisneros would each come on in relief with Chen taking the loss.
Unfortunately the Cards could only manage six hits off of the tough Regina pitching staff. Riley Jepson led the way with a single, triple, and two rbi’s. Thirus Jones, Griffey Halle, Colin Kellington, and Matt Zanutto each had one hit.
On Friday June 22 the Cards traveled to Weyburn. The Cards managed fourteen hits as six players had multi-hit games. Unfortunately that led to only two runs in an 8-2 defeat.
Ryne Niemi had three hits to lead the Cards. Thirus Jones, Griffey Halle, Jared McDonald, Riley Jepson, and Colin Kellington each had two hits.
Chris Cook was the starting pitcher but could not get out of the third inning allowing five earned to take the loss. Matt Nanutto, Brian Chen, Austin Skelhorn, and Logan MacDougall each came in relief.
